Essential Oils

Soothing Rose  · Calming Lavender  ·  Seductive Jasmine

Essential oils are the highly concentrated essences of aromatic plants. Not only do they each have a unique fragrance, they can also be used in Aromatherapy to promote healing of the mind & body. When one smells an essential oil the olfactory nerves are stimulated which trigger to the limbic system which is the emotional center of the brain. The limbic system is connected to areas of the brain that control memory, breathing & blood circulation as well as to the endocrine system that controls hormone levels. By definition, Essential Oils are plant derived; however the method of extraction varies. The most common method of extraction is steam distillation. A few of my favorite essential oils & their uses:

Rose Essential Oil is one of the most precious oils.
It takes many pounds of rose petals to make just one ounce of oil. True rose essential oil smells quite
different from rose fragrance oil. Rose essential oil is good for dry, sensitive skin as aids in the relief of
stress and insomnia.

I use Red Flower Moroccan Rose Bath, Body & Massage Oil for everything from dry cuticles to a luxurious bath at the end of a long day.

Luxe Notes: Essential Oils are very potent and should not be applied directly to the skin nor should they be ingested. There are a few exceptions (lavender, tea tree & sandalwood) but as a rule, essential oils should be diluted in a “carrier”. The carrier can be shower gel, lotion, bath water, body oil, salts, etc. Different concentrations of essential oils are appropriate for different uses.

Shop French Lavender Cleansing Hair Wash Lavender is a classic for a reason. This
essential oil calms the mind, relieves tension
and promotes sleep. Who can’t use a little
(ok, a lot in my case) help in those departments? Used topically, lavender calms inflamed skin and is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin.

I love Red Flower French Lavender
Cleansing Hair Wash
- it fills my shower with
the calming scent of lavender & leaves my hair looking radiant but never weighed down.

Burn a lavender candle during your next yoga practice- you’re sure to slip into peaceful bliss
in no time!

Luxe Notes: Just like plants, Essential oils can be conventional, organic, certified organic, or something known as “wild crafted”. Using botanical ingredients is great but how much better if they are grown in the absence of harsh chemicals? Look for products that use organic, certified organic or wild crafted essential oils.

Jasmine is known for its seductive properties. This essential oil has been used throughout centuries and
is a favorite ingredient for all sorts of love potions. Jasmine is extremely soothing making it useful in
emotional blocks and dilemmas.
